FAMSVARPAC’s mission is to prevent the mass shootings made possible when civilians have easy access to military grade semi-automatic rifles, magazines, and bump stocks — guns that were meant for war, not schools.
We will do this by investing in targeted upcoming federal races, focusing our efforts supporting policymakers who share these goals and opposing those who stand in the way.
Close to 80 percent of mass shootings include semi-automatic weapons. They have no place in the hands of private citizens. We echo the words of the courageous students from March For Our Lives: Either change the law or change the lawmakers. FAMSVARPAC plans to do both.
Who We Are
Families vs. Assault Rifles PAC (FAMSVARPAC) was founded by parents of Parkland, Florida Douglas High students subsequent to the shooting on February 14, 2018. The Committee includes parents of children who survived this mass shooting and parents of children who did not. The shooter used an AR-15 assault rifle to kill 14 students, 3 staff members and injure 17 others, during his 6-minute shooting spree.
FAMSVARPAC represents a broad-based group of concerned citizens of all political persuasions — parents, veterans, teachers, gun violence survivors, law enforcement, hunting enthusiasts, gun owners, and grandparents — united by the common purpose of keeping our children and grandchildren safe from becoming the next national mass shooting headline.
